Welcome to Maggie Qiu Therapy. Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before engaging in therapeutic services. These terms are designed to ensure transparency, uphold ethical standards, and protect the safety and rights of both therapist and client.
1. Practice Overview
Maggie Qiu Therapy is a sole trader counselling practice operated by Maggie Qiu, a qualified psychotherapist and BACP member. Services are primarily provided online, with limited in-person availability in the UK.
Therapeutic work is grounded in person-centred values, integrating counselling and art therapy approaches, and adheres to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
2. Services Provided
Type: Individual 1:1 session ( counselling /art therapy )
Format: 50-minute sessions
Fee: £50 per session
Client age: 18 years and over only
Availability: Mainly online; limited in-person sessions may be available in the UK upon discussion
All prospective clients undertake an initial consultation/self-assessment to determine if our service is appropriate for their needs.
3. Booking, Payment & Invoicing
Payment is charged per session.
An invoice will be issued on the day of the session, and payment is due within 7 days of receipt.
Payment is accepted via Stripe only, unless otherwise agreed individually.
Sessions are confirmed upon booking; regular session times can be agreed where suitable.
4. Cancellation & Missed Sessions
Cancellations must be made with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged.
Cancellations made within 48 hours will be charged in full.
In exceptional circumstances (e.g., sudden illness, accident, hospitalisation, bereavement), a refund or reschedule may be considered at the therapist’s discretion.
Missed appointments without notice are also fully chargeable.
5. Privacy & Confidentiality
All personal information shared in therapy is kept strictly confidential and in line with UK GDPR and data protection law.
Client records are stored securely and only accessible to the therapist.
Sessions are not recorded unless explicitly agreed in writing beforehand.
We adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards set by relevant professional bodies such as BACP, UKCP. Information shared during sessions will be treated as confidential, except in the following circumstances:
Legal Obligation: Where disclosure is required by law (e.g., safeguarding concerns, court order).
Risk of Harm: If the counsellor in conjunction with the Risk Management Team believes there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. In such cases, we may need to contact relevant authorities or emergency services.
Supervision: Counsellors are required to engage in regular clinical supervision to ensure best practice. During supervision, client anonymity is maintained.
Client Consent: With your informed consent, we may share information with other professionals involved in your care.
Clients may contact the therapist via email at maggieqiu.therapy@gmail.com. Please note: email is not for therapeutic conversations or emergency support.
6. Communication Boundaries
Outside of scheduled sessions, email contact is welcomed for practical matters (e.g., scheduling).
Therapeutic content is not processed via email.
Maggie Qiu Therapy does not offer crisis or emergency support. If you are in distress, please contact local emergency services or local mental health crisis teams.
7. Professional Disclaimer
The services provided by Maggie Qiu Therapy are not a substitute for medical treatment or psychiatric care.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency or need urgent support, please seek help through your GP, A&E, or a crisis helpline in your area.
8. Intellectual Property
All written and visual materials on this website, including therapeutic resources and imagery, are the intellectual property of Maggie Qiu Therapy unless otherwise credited. These materials may not be copied, shared, or reproduced without prior written consent.
9. Therapeutic Contract
A formal counselling contract will be discussed and agreed upon in the first session, covering boundaries, confidentiality, consent, and mutual expectations.
10. Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, although services may be accessed globally.
