Frequently asked questions.

About My Counselling Services

  • What languages do you offer therapy in?

I offer therapy in English, Putonghua (Chinese), and Cantonese, depending on your preference. You’re welcome to speak in whichever language feels most comfortable and safe for you.

  • Do you work with people from different cultural backgrounds?

Yes. I work with clients from diverse backgrounds, including international students, immigrants, and people navigating cultural or identity challenges. I offer a non-judgmental, inclusive, and trauma-informed space for all.

  • I’m a Chinese or Cantonese-speaking person living in the UK. Can I receive therapy in my native language?

Yes. I offer therapy in both Mandarin and Cantonese, with an understanding of Chinese cultural values, intergenerational family dynamics, and issues specific to living between cultures.

  • I don’t live in the UK but elsewhere, but can I still want to receive therapy in my native language?

Yes. As we offer therapy online, I offer therapy in English, Putonghua (Chinese), and Cantonese, depending on your preference. You’re welcome to speak in whichever language feels most comfortable and safe for you.

  • Where are you based? Do you offer in-person sessions?

I am based in the UK and currently offer online counselling.

  • How much does therapy cost?

Each 50-minute session is £50. I also offer a free 15 to 30 minute consultation to explore whether we're a good fit.

  • What can therapy help me with?

Clients come to me with a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to:

    • Anxiety and low mood

    • Cultural identity and belonging

    • Family and relationship difficulties

    • Academic or work stress

    • Low self-worth and shame

    • Emotional overwhelm

  • Is your practice LGBTQIA+ friendly and neurodiversity-affirming?

Absolutely. I welcome people of all identities and experiences.

  • Can I have online counselling sessions in Chinese or Cantonese?

Yes. I provide online video counselling in Mandarin and Cantonese, making it accessible wherever you are in the UK or globally.

  • Do I need to tell my GP or doctor that I’m seeing a therapist?

No — you don’t have to inform your GP unless you want to. Therapy is confidential and independent from the NHS. If there’s ever a situation where I think sharing information with a doctor would benefit your care, I would always discuss it with you first and get your permission.

  • I’m already receiving CBT through the NHS. Can I still come to you?

Yes. Many clients choose to see a private therapist alongside NHS support. Some feel that NHS CBT is too brief or structured and want more space to explore emotions in a deeper way. We can tailor the sessions to complement what you’re already doing.

  • I’m taking medication for anxiety or depression. Can I still do therapy?

Absolutely. Many clients find that medication and therapy work well together. While medication can help ease symptoms, therapy can support you in understanding the deeper emotional patterns, triggers, and relationship dynamics underneath.

  • What if I don’t know what’s “wrong”? Can I still come to therapy?

Yes. You don’t need to have a diagnosis or a “big problem.” Therapy is for anyone feeling stuck, overwhelmed, confused, or simply wanting a safe space to talk. Uncertainty is welcome here.

  • How can I book a session with you?

You can fill in the contact form, this will email me directly. I usually reply within 48 hours.
